Yachats Rural Fire Protection District

The Yachats Rural Fire Protection District (YRFPD) was established in 1949, expanding from the original Yachats Volunteer Fire Department founded in 1925. Covering about 14.47 square miles along Highway 101, it serves a population of around 2,500, including the City of Yachats. YRFPD provides fire protection, emergency medical services, ambulance services, and specialized rescues. It is managed by an elected five-member Board of Directors, a volunteer Fire Chief, and a paid District Administrator, with a staff of six full-time firefighters/paramedics.
