The West Side Rural Fire Protection District serves 25 square miles in Hood River, Oregon, with an additional 25 square miles covered through an auto aid agreement. Serving a population of about 8,000, the district responds to roughly 500 calls annually. The department operates with a mix of full-time staff, part-time volunteers, and 38 volunteers. Facilities include a main station at 1185 Tucker Road and a remote station at 4250 Barrett Drive. The department also offers a student firefighter program.
