South Gilliam County Rural Fire Protection District, based in Condon, Oregon, serves a rural farming community of about 1,050 residents. The district covers approximately 843 square miles, including Condon, Lonerock, Mayville, and an old radar base community. As an all-volunteer department, it handles around 30 calls annually, primarily for wildland fires, but also responds to structure fires, vehicle accidents, and ambulance assists.
