The Reedsport Volunteer Fire Department, established in 1929, is dedicated to safeguarding life, property, and the environment within its service area, which covers approximately 5 square miles in Reedsport, Oregon. The department operates with around 40 volunteers who respond to various emergencies, including fire suppression, rescue operations, hazardous material incidents, and public safety education.
Under the leadership of Chief Tom Anderson, who has been with the department for over 50 years, the team is committed to providing prompt and professional services to both the local community and visitors. The department operates from two stations and is an integral part of a larger mutual aid system, ensuring comprehensive emergency response capabilities.
In addition to emergency response, the Reedsport Volunteer Fire Department also offers a smoke alarm program in partnership with the American Red Cross, providing free smoke alarms to residents in Reedsport and surrounding areas.
