Operating out of a single fire station, the department is staffed by a combination of full-time career professionals, part-time personnel, and dedicated volunteers. Their coverage area includes the City of Oakridge, Westfir, and the Hazeldell Rural Fire District, with an ambulance service area extending over 2,200 square miles.

The department responds to various emergencies, including fires, medical incidents, and other critical situations, handling over 800 calls annually, the majority of which are for medical emergencies. Oakridge Fire & EMS also plays a key role in reducing homeowner insurance premiums in the area by maintaining a strong Insurance Services Office (ISO) rating, which reflects their ability to respond efficiently to fire emergencies.
