The Oregon Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) is the state agency responsible for protecting Oregon’s environment and public health. In the Rogue Valley, DEQ focuses on air quality management, water quality protection, waste and materials management, and environmental cleanup efforts that directly impact local communities.

DEQ’s work includes monitoring air quality and smoke impacts, regulating outdoor burning and emissions, protecting rivers and groundwater, overseeing waste disposal and recycling programs, and responding to environmental concerns and contamination.
