Umpqua National Forest is nestled on the western slopes of the Cascade Mountains. The Forest protects 983,239 acres in Oregon across Douglas, Lane, and Jackson Counties. Four ranger districts comprise the forest: Cottage Grove, Diamond Lake, North Umpqua, and Tiller. The landscape of the Forest has been shaped by high Cascade glaciation, whitewater rapids, and explosive geologic events. From mountainous terrain to lush, dense forest, the area is known for its rich biodiversity, recreational opportunities, and stunning scenery.
