Formed in 1952, Douglas County Fire District No.2 serves a predominantly urban and rural area of Douglas County in Southern Oregon.

About Us

Douglas County Fire District 2 proudly serves central Douglas County, Oregon since 1946. We provide fire suppression, emergency medical services, technical rescue, hazmat response, and fire prevention education to over 36,000 residents across 285 square miles.

The mission of Douglas County Fire District 2 is to protect lives, property, and the environment through emergency response, prevention, and community involvement. We are committed to providing prompt, skillful, and caring emergency services to our citizens.

Our People

Douglas County Fire District 2 consists of over 60 dedicated firefighters, EMTs, paramedics, command staff, and support personnel. We operate out of 5 fire stations staffed by career and volunteer members. Our personnel train to the highest standards to be able to respond to any emergency situation.

We respond to over 3,500 calls for service annually. We are proud to serve our community with pride, compassion, and excellence.

Our History

Douglas County Fire District 2 was formed in 1946 to provide fire protection to central Douglas County. We started as an all-volunteer department and have grown over the decades into a primarily career department that still relies on volunteers to serve our large district.

Fire Stations and Equipment

Douglas County Fire District 2 operates 5 fire stations:

  • Station 1 - Headquarters (Winston)
  • Station 2 (Roseburg)
  • Station 3 (Green)
  • Station 4 (Curtin)
  • Station 5 (Melrose)

Our apparatus fleet consists of 5 engines, 2 tenders, 5 ambulances, 2 rescue units, 2 brush trucks, 2 water rescue boats, and various command and support vehicles.

Board of Directors

Douglas County Fire District 2 is governed by a 5-member Board of Directors elected by the citizens we serve. The Board holds regular public meetings and is responsible for setting policy, approving the budget, and guiding the future of the fire district.
